B2B Admin:
Learner Management
Invitation and engagement management workflows for Learning & Development Managers
Blinkist
web platform
B2B
Where did this come from?
In 2025 Blinkist changed its focus from B2C to B2B.
One of the table-stakes features that needed a complete redo and a lot of improvement was the learner management page.
The outcome
Admins can manage learners and their subscription on their own — without reaching out to Customer Success Managers.
How did we get there?
Problem
Admins have a hard time inviting and managing users to the Blinkist platform in a B2B context.
The tech stack is outdated and can’t communicate well with the newer parts of the web platform.
HOW MIGHT WE
create a pleasant admin experience that’s able to scale?
Metrics
This was a table-stakes feature we needed to release to be able to scale the Blinkist B2B business. Regarding our success metrics, we wanted to reduce the amount of times admins reach out to our Customer Success Managers (CSMs) to manage their accounts on a basic level.
At the same time we introduced the option for admins to see learners’ last login into the app/web platform – a metric admins reached out to us manually before. This project therefore was mainly about enabling admins to act on their own and reducing manual labor for Blinkist’s B2B team.
Solution
After investigating our admins’ + prospects’ feedback and market research on platforms like LinkedIn Learning and Udemy Business, I proposed to create a central place for admins to manage their users and their licenses. Managing licences was a new topic I added on top because I found out that this old feature created a lot of friction as well.
For the concept shaping I worked closely with Blinkist’s Director of Product and CEO.
I had to take into account that the B2B platform lives on 4 different tech stakes that can’t all communicate well with each other. Our goal was to move this part of the web app to the latest monorepo and deprecate as much old code as possible. This would also improve the user experience regarding functionality, speed and accessibility.

Release
This is currently in the final phase of implementation and will be released soon.
Iterations
Together with PM and Engineers we descoped the option for admins to buy more licences directly whenever they reached their maximum they bought before. They can still get more licences but need to reach out to Blinkist’s CSMs. This feature will be added in a 2nd version that will be released soon.
We also plan to add a soft licence cap that will improve the learners’ and admins’ experience. This is work in progress.
